I started playing Riichi mahjong a couple of weeks ago, and have been practicing mostly on the site Japanese Mahjong - Flash Game playing against computers until my skill isn't at an embarrassingly low level. I found some resources to get better here, but I was wondering if there were any to work your way up from a complete beginner to someone of moderate skill. thanks! |

For tenhou, at least, there are some English instructions on how to navigate the site. For some really fast play, I have my iTouch (er iPod Touch) and play using the Nagomi Mahjong app. App Store - MahJong Nagomi There is also Jan Ryu Mon. App Shopper: Janryumon PLUS (Games) Unfortunately, this game isn't working on my iTouch. Sadface. |

There's really a shortage of English-language strategy online, as you might have noticed. If you dig in the reachmahjong or osamuko archives there's some good stuff, and I recommend this translation blog of a strategy blog by a super-strong player (Tenhou 8dan). A lot of straightforward advice from beginner to advanced levels. |
