Simple Studios 134 W. 29th Street (b/t 6th and 7th) 2nd Floor New York, NY 10001 Map to Location The event will be from 3PM to 7PM This event is geared towards players who are already familiar enough with Riichi Mahjong to sit down at a table and start playing without any instruction. Anyone who has already attended an Open Play event is welcome (and encouraged!) to return. Please use this thread to ask any questions you may have, and to RSVP for the event. We should have enough space for everyone, but the more people RSVP the better we'll be able to ensure we have space/equipment for all. Edit: Totally underestimated the amount of work that I have left to do, so I won't be able to come tomorrow.

This event managed to top even the first one…part of the appeal of playing with actual human players (something I don't get to do with riichi style play that often) is getting the chance to fine-tune one's playing style. This time, I took away the lesson that I need my brain to be more aware I am playing RIICHI mahjong even though I'm sitting at a table with real people. My inner Chinese-style player still feels the need to call for tiles far more often than necessary… It sucked having to disappear right at 7:00, but hopefully I can hang around a bit next time. Can't wait till March. |
